Note:  The USS Hornet was a member of the Essex class of carrier.  She and her sisters, built after Pearl Harbor, turned the tide of the war in the Pacific and brought victory to the United States.  She is currently berthed in Alameda and serves as a museum.  If you have to opportunity to visit her, it is well worth the trip. -PR
