MEETING MINUTES/JUNE 9, 2009

 

 

Call to Order:         The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Club President John Reese.

Minutes:                   Motion made, and seconded to approve the May 12, 2009 minutes.

 

Treasurer:               Jim Poe reported that the balance in the account is $2,261.99 including the $170.00 from the Angles Camp raffle.

 

Secretary:               Kathy Reese, nothing to report.

 

Clothing:                  Barbara Collier, e-mail her for any orders.

 

Webmaster:            Pete Ruff, nothing to report.

 

Raffle Organizers:    Barbara Hudgins, Patty McCoy & Bob Graham, nothing to report.

 

Club Historian:          Keith Becky, not present.

 

Old Business:         Angels Camp Picnic – 38 people attended the event.  Hula Hoop contest winner was Anne Jones.  The water balloon toss winners were Phil & Shaylynne Slack.  Thanks to Bob Graham for leading the caravan, running  the games and raffle event.  Thanks to George Goolsby with an assist from Skip Grube on preparing the barbequed hamburgers and hot dogs. Thanks to Patty McCoy, Barbara Rogers and Carla Grube in helping to set up.  And thanks to all the members for bringing raffle prizes, side dishes and helping in the QUICK clean up afterwards.  Report by Kathy Reese

 

                                    Vette Magic – Sacramento.  The car show on Saturday had about 80 cars.  John Clemens took 1st place in his class and Jim Poe tied for 1st place in his.

                                    At Sundays drag race, Pam Hall took 2nd place.  She missed 1st place by a 1/10th of a second.

 

 

 

 New Business:    Sierra Vista Show & Shine in Cameron Park – George Goolsby reports he has over 20 cars signed up to participate with invitations for other local clubs to join in.  The bank will be providing food, drinks and three People Choice awards.  Bring your folding chairs. 

                            

                             Ice House Run – Bob Naylor says to meet at the Park & Ride on Ponderosa Rd & Hwy 50 by 9:00.  Will leave shortly afterwards.

                                     

                             Corvettes at Lake Tahoe – Dana Jones wants to meet at 8:30 at Safeway; leaving 9:00 sharp on Friday morning.

 

                             Big Springs Gardens – George Goolsby wants to leave at 8:00 from Starbucks on Latrobe Rd in El Dorado Hills.  The lunch is $37.00 a person.  Need to bring cash or a personal check.  No credit cards. Private parking space for our cars will be provided.

 

                             4th of July Annual Picnic at Sly Park – Barbara Collier needs everyone to bring a side dish to share and their own drinks.  There will be a $5.00 charge for the Barbeque. 

 

                             4th of July Tahoe Fireworks – George Goolsby reports he will be leaving at 11:00 from the Safeway in Cameron Park.  Reservations for dinner at the Chart House are for 7:00.    

 

                             Rockin’ on the Rogue – George reports he has received an e-mail saying there still is room for add’l applicants plus room at the motel.  We are to leave at 8:00 from Safeway with breakfast at Granzilla’s in Williams.

 

                             Thunderhill – Larry Savio not present to report.

 

                             Coast Redwood Run to Eureka -  overnight stay in Eureka with a return trip through the Giant Redwoods.

 

                             Christmas party – Barbara Collier reports that the Fireman’s Hall has been rented.  John & Kathy Reese volunteered for the decorating committee. 

                                   

Floor open to Members:          John Reese thanked new member Karen Strachan for bring the delicious chocolate chip cookies to the meeting for everyone.

 

Vickie Braithwaite asked for any ideas to help raise money for the Christmas Party.  George Goolsby suggested a 50/50 at this Friday’s Show & Shine.  And Barbara Collier will have a 50/50 at the 4th of July picnic.

 

Karen Strachan wants to know if the club would be interested in a run to Yosemite for lunch at the Ahwahnee Hotel in the fall.  It was suggested to pick a date and add it to the club calendar.  

 

Pete Ruff says he has flyers for the 20th Annual Show & Shine/Fly –In for October, which is a local event.  Also the event is posted on the web page.

 

Harland  Dains spoke of the Sacramento Law Enforcement Memorial Run which supports the chaplain agency.  He asked for donations.

 

Bob Naylor motioned for the club to donate their half of the 50/50 to the Memorial Run.  Motion was approved.
