CAMERON PARK CORVETTE CLUB

                                                            MEETING MINUTES/JANUARY 12, 2010

 

Call to Order:         The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Club President John Reese.

 

                             John thanked Jim Poe who has been our Treasurer since 2005 and George Goolsby who was our VP/Events Co-ordinator for all they have done for the club.    He also thanked our 2009 Christmas Party Committee - Vicki Braithwaite and Barbara Collier along with their helpers – Tom Braithwaite, their daughter Teri & grandson Tyler, Bill Mueller, Patty McCoy, Kimberly &

                             Jeff Nichols.

                            

                             John also reported Mary Graham was home from the hospital & doing well.

Minutes:                   Motion made by Jon Svilich and seconded by Harland Dains to approve the Nov. 10, 2009 minutes.

 

Treasurer:            Jim Poe gave a final End of Year and end of his term financial report:  A 11/30/09 balance of $2835.99.  Christmas Party income of $1310.00 and expenses of $3325.00 leaving a balance of $820.99.  

 

                             Peggy Sue Croswhite followed up with her plans to use a newly designed Membership Application for all members to fill out when joining.   She also said she had been to the club’s bank and signed the necessary forms to be able to do the club’s banking.           

 

 

Secretary:               Kathy Reese thanked Barbara Rogers for taking the minutes for the last three months. 

 

Clothing:                  Trying to get new catalogs & info for our website.

 

Webmaster:            Pete Ruff will be purging some of the web addresses and car photos from the website.  Some of the 2010 activities have been posted.

 

Raffle Organizers:            Patty McCoy & Bob Graham, no report.

 

Club Historian:      No Report

 

Old Business:       Nov. 15th - Crab Shack Lunch in Old Sac hosted by George Goolsby.  We ate at Rio City Cafe instead.  We all had a good time.

 

                             Dec. 5th – Toy Run (hosted by Just For Corvette’s).  It was reported that only 156 cars were on the run only about half from last year.  There was no CHP escort.  They did have a show-n-shine at Sunrise Mall.

 

                             Dec. 6th - Placerville Christmas Parade hosted by George Goolsby. Twelve cars from our club showed up but due to snow and not being able to throw candy to the kids only four cars participated in the parade.  Harlan suggested that we send a letter to the sponsoring organization asking them to reinstate the candy tossing.  

 

                             Dec. 12th  - Christmas Party.  Vickie Braithwaite and Barbara Collier reported about 40 people paid for tickets.  There were several suggested changes for the next Christmas Party, including :  1.  Moving it back to the Best Western if the club doesn’t have a large attendance.  2.  Hiring a DJ instead of a “live” band to keep the costs down.  3.  Adding a 50/50 to runs and events to raise funds for the party.

 

Rick Samoian will be sending out a survey asking for suggestions on how to make the Christmas party even better for all members.

 

New Business:     Jan. 23rd Annual Event Planning Meeting to be held at Tom & Vicki Braithwaite’s house at 11:00am.  Please bring a side dish and some ideas for runs.

 

                                    Bylaws – The Board of Directors presented a set of “proposed new bylaws” to the membership.  The “new bylaws” were revised to remove ambiguous and outdated information, as well as adding a code of conduct.  Motion made and seconded to accept the bylaws as presented..  It passed with no nay votes.  Rick Samoian stated that, with the “new bylaws” in place, members may amend or change them at any future meeting with a simple majority of votes.

                                   

 

Floor Open to Members:

                             Will Gilliland reported on a driving school to be held at Thunderhill on March 5-7th.  There will be four 20 minute sessions with an instructor in your car.

 

                             Tom Krakker brought six bottles of Meguiar’s Detailer for any one in the club.

Raffle 50/50            $128.00 -- $64.00 to club & $64.00 to the winner Karen Strachan.  Karen generously donated her winnings back to the club.
